Kelvin is a father and former collegiate baseball player with a degree in physical education from UNC-Pembroke. He's an avid MMA fan that has been writing about the sport since 2008 through various outlets. His favorite fighter is Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira due to the heart he has displayed throughout his legendary MMA career. Gilbert Melendez to Bellator doesn’t change the MMA landscape at all

We reported earlier this week that top five lightweight Gilbert Melendez had agreed in principle to sign with Bellator MMA after negotiations with the UFC fell through. The UFC still holds matching rights, so the deal isn't complete and he very well could re-sign with the UFC. Tito Ortiz steps down as manager of Cris Cyborg

Former UFC champion and UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz walked away from the sport a little over a year ago as a fighter, and looked to get into the managing side of things shortly thereafter by signing on to manage former women's Strikeforce champion Cris Cyborg. The UFC 170: Rousey vs. McMann full card

The next UFC PPV will take place on February 22 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will feature UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey taking on challenger Sara McMann in the main event. It will mark the first time two Olympic medalists face off inside the Octagon. Rousey was a bronze medalist Judoka in the 2008 Beijing games, and McMann was a silver medalist wrestler in the 2004 Athens games. Read More »

UFC light heavyweight champion provided a quick interview for "Inside MMA" which airs on AXS TV earlier this week. Jones was asked about having a super-fight with UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman, but Jones indicated that Weidman didn't have a big enough following for that fight to be considered a super-fight. In fact, the only fight he would consider to be a super-fight would have to be against UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez. Read More »

UFC and Jessica Eye issue statement on suspension

We reported a few days ago that UFC women's bantamweight fighter Jessica Eye had been suspended by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for a banned substance. Her UFC 166 victory over Sarah Kaufman was also overturned to a no decision. Today the UFC and Eye issued a statement on the situation. Read More »

Anthony Johnson (16-4) will return to the UFC after a 2 year absence to face Phil Davis at UFC 172 in a light heavyweight bout. Johnson competed in the UFC as a welterweight primarily before missing weight repeatedly and ultimately being released from the UFC following a first round submission loss against Vitor Belfort at UFC 142.
