The return of Conor McGregor kicked off the 2020 MMA calendar with his highly-anticipated – if rather short-lived – fight with American Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone. A number of fights are already scheduled for the rest of the calendar year with Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero doing battle on Sunday 8 March.

Adesanya is 4/7 to triumph in that bout with Romero at 9/4, though it might be more beneficial to try and find enhanced odds with the latest free betting picks before placing a wager. Tony Ferguson will also take on Khabib Nurmagomedov in a title fight on April 18 with the latter a 4/9 favourite and the former at 11/5.

These two battles will be incredible to watch, but just which other fights is there to look forward to this year?

Adesanya v Romero

Already been talked about, Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero battle it out on the 8th of March for the middleweight title. Adesanya is the reigning champion and has youth on his side; at 30 years of age, the Nigerian has 12 years on opponent Romero. And, Adesanya is undefeated in 18 bouts with Romero tasting defeat four times in 17 matches.

Adesanya is the 4/7 favourite, with over a 16cm greater reach than Romero, the Nigerian will definitely have his eyes on the defeating the no.3 by knockout.

Freire v Carvalho

Patricio Freire takes on Pedro Carvalho on March 13th for the featherweight title. Freire will defend his title against Portuguese Carvalho with the champion boasting a 30-4-0 record against Carvalho’s 11-3-0.

Lee v Oliviera

Kevin Lee squares up to Charles Oliviera on the 15th of March with an intense battle predicted. Lee is currently at 18 wins and five losses with Oliviera at 28 wins and eight losses. American Lee is the 8/11 favourite, though Brazilian Oliviera is not far behind at 5/4.

Woodley v Edwards

Tyron Woodley and Leon Edwards hit the O2 Arena in London in the welterweight main event on the 21st of March. Backed by a home crowd, Briton Edwards is 8/11 favourite to defeat American Woodley, who stands at 11/8. Woodley has won 19 of 24 games and Edwards 18 of 21, so it will be an interesting battle.

Ferguson v Nurmagomedov

Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov takes on American Tony Ferguson in the main event on 18th of April. 4/9 favourite Nurmagomedov is undefeated after 28 fights with opponent Ferguson having won 25 fights out of 28.

All predictions lead to Khabib defending his title, though Ferguson has a longer reach and an arsenal of fighting weapons. With the ability to knock out opponents with elbows, punches and even knees, El Cucuy should not be underestimated.

A fight that has got everyone excited, it should be a cracker.
