UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic crushed Junior Dos Santos last night in his second title defense. The end came at 2:22 of round one via TKO to the surprise of many. Miocic became one of only five fighters able to defend the championship twice. The others are Randy Couture, Brock Lesnar, Cain Velasquez, and Tim Sylvia. Andrei Arlovski defended his twice, but once was as interim champion and despite him being promoted to undisputed champion shortly after it still doesn’t count apparently.
They call it the heavyweight curse, but can Stipe be the first one to break it. Heavyweights hit so hard it is no surprise that title defenses are few and far between.
