Nolan Norwood (1)

Before top Arkansas prospect Nolan Norwood tries to take out Jaleel Willis at V3 Fights on June 17, he caught up with ProMMANow.

How did you find MMA to begin with?

I got off work one day. I was hanging out with one of my buddies. He knew some people who were training for an MMA event. I signed up to try it out, even though I didn’t have any legitimate training. I fought, won, joined a gym, and haven’t looked back.

You fell in love with the sport right away?

Yeah, definitely (laughs). It’s such a pure sport. It’s very addicting.

Why have you been so successful so far?

Good coaching, for sure, and I’ve put a lot more effort into it than the average fighter does. I’m very dedicated to it, and I try to not just go through the reps when I train. I’m always trying to improve, in everything I do.

How excited are you for this upcoming fight?

I’m very excited. I’ve been training a lot and doing a lot of cross-training, with guys I’ve never trained with. I’m going to be fully prepared.

Is it extra fun to take out a fellow top prospect, or is it just another fight for you?

It’s just another fight. I’ve been fighting guys like this for a while. It means a little more because he’s undefeated, but I’m going to be ready to go.
