WWE announced on Friday they will be returning to the Alamodome in San Antonio Texas for the next Royal rumble on January 29th, 2017. WWE soundly broke the Alamodome attendance record with their Royal Rumble event back in 1997. Shawn Michaels and Psycho Sid headlined the event in a bout for the WWE Championship for which, according to WWE, 60,525 attended. Triple H successfully defended his Intercontinental Championship with a win over Goldust in the opening match of Royal Rumble 1997 event so it would be fitting for him to return in some in ring capacity.
A rumor being pushed around on some dirt sheet sites is that HHH will win the Rumble and go on to face the WWE champion, or that he would take on the Undertaker in his final match. Neither of those have been confirmed.
