ProMMAnow.com caught up with Curt Demarce ahead of his upcoming bout with Parwez Ghulam at Unified MMA 28 on Sept. 30 at Royal Palace Banquet Hall in Alberta.

How have your preparations for this fight been going?

It’s been going well. I’ve adjusted to the diet. But training has never gone better. I’m training my ass off. It feels good.

What kind of impact does training at American Kickboxing Academy have on your fighting?

It’s top-notch training. There’s a huge group of professional fighters from all across the world here and you can’t help but improve. I’m very happy here. I’m getting in great work, and I’m very happy with the outcome so far.

Is this the best you’ve ever been?

Yes, it’s the best I’ve been so far, but not the best I will be. I’m improving every day and just now entering the prime of my fighting career. I’m excited to put on a show on September 30 and see what happens next.

What does Parwez bring to the table?

From what I’ve seen, he’s very light-footed. He moves well. He’s got good hands — good boxing. He’s definitely a dangerous opponent. He’s fresh and he’s hungry. He’s fighting in his hometown, so he’s really going to want to win. But my strengths are going to overwhelm him. I’m expecting a good fight, but I’m looking to end it, and I’m looking to end it early.

What’s that Unified MMA Featherweight Championship going to mean to you?

It’s great to have a title in a top promotion, but championships don’t mean as much to me as you might expect. I just really want to fight the best opponents I can. That being said, I want to make a big statement in the 145-pound division, and winning this belt is really going to help me do that.
