Pro MMA Now caught up with Calvin “The Boston Finisher” Kattar as he tries to improve to 16-2, and win his seventh straight fight as he takes on Chris Foster at CES MMA 38 on September 23 in Lincoln, R.I., live on AXS TV Fights.

How was your recent Bahamas vacation?

The vacation was good, man. But the fight never left my mind. I stayed focused and, no matter what I was doing, my mind was on the fight.

When I get home from vacation, I’m usually pretty happy. How did it feel to come home and be able to shift right into fight mode?

Really, it was just a natural continuation of being in the zone, but it’s good to be back in the swing of things. This is where I have everything set in place. I have a system in place and I just show up at do my job. I shut my mind off, train and work every day for this fight. That’s it.

Where does a win put you?

A win puts me at 16-2. That’s all I’m thinking about. I really just want to get the win, so I’m not focused on what would happen afterwards. If you get the win, if you put on good performances, good things will happen to you. Now I’ve just got to go out there and get the job done.

What does Chris bring to the table?

He’s a tough guy, and I think he’s underestimated by a lot of people. He’s fought tough dudes, and he always comes ready to fight. I think this is the right time for this fight. It was supposed to happen a few years ago but he had a medical issue the day of the fight. Things happen, and it never came to fruition. It’s long overdue, and I’m showing up ready on fight night.

How does this fight play out?

It’s going to be exciting. My most recent fight I was too cautious. This fight will be different. I’m ready for wherever it goes, and I think Chris is pretty well rounded. I’m ready to get the job done.
