James murrin punches

Seven-time CES MMA vet James Grant Murrin checked in with ProMMANow.com before he steps back into action at CES MMA 36 in Lincoln, R.I., on Friday.

I saw a recent quote from you where you said you should be 7-0 as a professional. What do you mean by that?

The past few years, I’ve had a lot of personal troubles that didn’t allow me to train to my full potential. I hold myself more accountable now, and I feel like I’m coming out of a big, negative wave of bullshit, pretty much (laughs). I feel much more comfortable now. There are fights where I should’ve performed a lot better. I tried to keep those issues to myself, but that’s pretty much the basis of why I said that.

Has there been a difference in the lead-up to this fight? Can you feel a change coming?

Oh yeah, I feel revamped and revitalized. Before it’s been hit-or-miss who walks into the cage. Now I’m going in there to kick some ass.

How excited are you to get back in there Friday?

Oh, I’m excited. I try not to think about it too much, but I’m very excited. Very excited.

How does this fight end?

I’m comfortable wherever it goes. I’m training everywhere, and I’m confident wherever. Some people think of me as a boxer, but I’m confident everywhere.
