The honeymoon is over for Vince McMahon and Roman Reigns. Despite fans getting some of what they want with AJ Styles, Cesaro, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, and a few more, once the third hour hits with Roman Reigns as the main event ratings turn south. RAW had 3.128 million viewers, down from last week’s already low 3.335 million for the show in London. The final rating for the show was just a 2.20, and this is down from last week’s 2.32 rating. This is the lowest rating of the year. No RAW has been less viewed in recent years except for the December 7, 2015 episode.

Guess who was shoved down our throats on that episode?

Roman Reigns and Sheamus argued with each other as the main event. Roman said Sheamus didn’t have potatoes, he had “tater tots.” He called him “tater tots” a bunch. Sheamus refused to get into the ring until Reigns removed all the tables, ladder and chairs. Roman complied, but eventually threw a ladder at him. After lots of additional tater tot-related conversation, they brawled. Reigns speared Sheamus through a table to end the show.

The bad news for WWE is that they have a failed experiment in Reigns and the bad news for us is that we get someone else we do not want to come back returning to the main event scene.

Enter John Cena who is returning next Monday to our TV.

Let’s face it. No one, and we mean no one wants to see John Cena as champion again. Once that happens we are guaranteed one of three things. Cena will feud with Sheamus, a returning Randy Orton, or Alberto Del Rio if not with Reigns. The thought of those four failures in a main event feud with Cena sucks all the air out of the room that wrestling fans are sitting in.

Let’s face it, Roman Reigns is a failure as champion. He is not drawing in new viewers, he is not popular with the fans, is not what WWE fans want right now, and Vince will continue to shove him down our throats regardless.

Yay.
