Daniel Cormier doesn’t think UFC 197’s Jones can beat him

Last night at UFC 197 Jon Jones beat Ovince St. Preux by decision and while it was it great he is back it was lackluster. The Jon Jones of old that smashed guys, choked people out, and outclassed opponents in every way was nowhere to be seen. We weren’t the only ones who noticed.

Current UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier wasted no time on Fox Sports 1 to express what we were thinking.

He got the job done. A lot of times, most guys, they don’t have their best performance, they lose. They don’t get it done. So it shows how special Jon is. That being said, very disappointed that I didn’t get to compete tonight because I do believe that if he showed up in the form that he did tonight, or if this is the new Jon Jones, there’s no way that guy can beat me.”

Since Cormier was injured and pulled out of his UFC 197 giving OSP his chance to step up and face Jones. Jon took advantage of Daniel’s absence and now has gold on his waist again. Granted, it’s an interim belt and Cormier was very vocal about that, too.

“Don’t bring that interim belt. You leave that at home. That’s garbage. That’s a play belt. They got that thing from the kiosk upstairs before they gave that to you in the middle of the Octagon. Leave that thing at home, Jon. Come chase this real title, and get beat, and I’ll ship you back to Albuquerque.”

What do you think? Can DC beat the Jon Jones we saw last night?
