UFC middleweight Yoel Romero (11-1) could have been on the cusp of a title shot with his most recent (albeit controversial) win over Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. However, the title shot isn’t going to happen now and Souza could potentially have that win wiped away due to a failed drug test. The UFC made the announcement Tuesday.

The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) informed Yoel Romero of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collection.

USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case involving Romero. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.

UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold has been been talking about granting former champion Chris Weidman an immediate rematch since he defeated him at UFC 194. This news could clear the way for that bout to happen. Stay tuned to ProMMAnow.com for more information regarding additional information on the Romero failed drug test.
