Conor McGregor 1UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor is on top of the world after dispatching long time champion Jose Aldo in just 13 seconds this past December. He has tons of supporters while having many detractors as well. Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather made some remarks regarding McGregor and his rise to fame, basically saying McGregor gets away with trash talk because of his skin color.

McGregor took to his official Facebook page to comment on a variety of things, including responding to Mayweather via the quote below:

Floyd Mayweather, don’t ever bring race into my success again. I am an Irishman. My people have been oppressed our entire existence. And still very much are. I understand the feeling of prejudice. It is a feeling that is deep in my blood.

In my family’s long history of warfare there was a time where just having the name ‘McGregor’ was punishable by death.

Do not ever put me in a bracket like this again.

If you want we can organise a fight no problem.

I will give you a fair 80/20 split purse in my favour seen as your last fight bombed at every area of revenue.

At 27 years of age I now hold the key to this game.

The game answers to me now.

This fight will never happen, but it’s always fun to hear to really good trash talkers go at it. Of course, Mayweather would never accept an 80/20 fight purse in favor of McGregor as has officially retired from boxing. Mayweather’s final boxing match of his career did extremely poor numbers when compared to what he normally does, the fight with Andre Berto still did over 500,000 PPV buys which the UFC would love to have each and every time it did a PPV.

McGregor is correct though, the MMA game does answer to him at this point and is why he will have a shot at becoming the first UFC champion of two weight classes concurrently in his next fight against Rafael dos Anjos.

If McGregor defeats dos Anjos, the sky’s the limit regarding his fame and ability to sell PPV.

  1. Mayweather was not taking a shot at McGregor personally but more so at how American society view black trash talkers as unprofessional vs how white trash talkers are views as confident. Europe and America are two totally different societies. McGregor doesn’t fully understand that.
