UFC Fight Night 77 takes place this evening from Sao Paulo, Brazil. Middleweight legends Dan Henderson and Vitor Belfort meet for a third time in the main event, while top light heavyweights Glover Teixeira and Pat Cummins meet in the co-headliner. This is the UFN 77 live blog for PMN.

UFC Fight Night 77 round-by-round updates:

Kevin Souza vs. Chas Skelly

Round 1 – Skelly goes for a D’arce at about the 2 minute mark. Skelly eventually lets it go and Souza drops Skelly with a left hook back on the feet. Skelly ends up going for a leg lock but can’t get it. Back up Souza ends the round with punches. 10-9 Souza.

Round 2 – Skelly with a takedown and locks up a rear-naked choke for the finish.

Clay Guida vs. Thiago Tavares

Round 1 – Guida with a pick up and takedown. Tavares catches him in a guillotine on the way down and Guida is forced to tap. Quick fight.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Thiago Tavares def. Clay Guida via submission (guillotine choke) – Round 1, 0:39

Yan Cabral vs. Johnny Case

Round 1 – Nothing too significant.

Round 2 – I got nothin.

Round 3 – Cabral has Case’s back with a body triangle locked on. Case escapes to top control. Cabral goes for an arm but can’t get it. Under a minute to go. Case lands some nice punches from top as Cabral starts to turtle up. Cabral gets to his feet before the bell but eats punches and his face is a bloody mess.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Johnny Case def. Yan Cabral via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Case called out “the guy from Saved By The Bell” after the fight… Sage Northcutt.

Gleison Tibau vs. Abel Trujillo

Round 1 – Tibau with an easy takedown but Abel is right back up. Tibau with another takedown and Trujillo looks for a guillotine briefly. Scramble, and Tibau takes Abel’s back, now to full mount after softening him up. Tibau with the rear-naked choke finish as the ref stops it. Abel is complaining about the stoppage. And the replay shows the choke wasn’t even really in good. Seems to be a premature stoppage.

Fabio Maldonado vs. Corey Anderson

Round 1 – Right from Fabio. Body jab from Anderson. Easy double leg from Anderson, and he takes top control in half guard. Fabio ends up escaping out the back door to his feet. Leg kick from Anderson. Anderson starts teeing off with punches. Fabio absorbs most of them. He bobs and weaves and now fires back. Thai plum and knee to the body from Anderson. Fabio stuffs a shot. Left hook from Anderson. Then he shoots again and gets the takedown. Fabio gives up his back immediately. Anderson softening him up with knees and punches and Fabio gets up before the bell. 10-9 Anderson.

Round 2 – Fabio turning it on with punches. Anderson presses him to the cage looking for the takedown. Anderson finally gets him down where it stays for much of the round. They’re back to the feet and swinging before the bell. 10-9 Anderson.

Round 3 – Couple punches, leg kicks, then a high kick from Anderson that skims Fabio’s head. Body shot from Fabio, left hook. Anderson gets another takedown with about 3:30 to go. Fabio gives up his back, gets to a knee as he tries to stand and eventually does. Anderson tees off with punches, left to the body as Fabio is backed against the cage. Right from Maldonado scores. Under 2 minutes to go. Clinch, short left from Fabio. Straight right from Anderson and he pushes Fabio to the cage. Another takedown from Anderson with 22 seconds left.  10-9 Anderson.

Gilbert Burns vs. Rashid Magomedov

Round 1 – Body kick from Burns, Rashid with a right counter. Burns with a right, then a takedown. Rashid gets up for a second but gets suplexed. But Magomedov is right back up, Burns pushing him to the cage. Burns tries to jump on a leglock but Magomedov avoids it. Body kick from Rashid, another lands on the shoulder. Low kick from Burns as he pursues. Magomedov scores with a punch combo and low kick. Then a right hand and a body kick before the bell. 10-9 Magomedov.

Round 2 – High kick from Burns, Body kick from Magomedov. Burns shoots in low, stuffed. Rashid’s leg is bruised up from kicks. Clinch, Burns backs out, lands a body kick but gets pushed over. Back up Rashid staggers Burns with a right. Magomedov knows he’s hurt and proceeds to pick him apart and drops him with a right. Hovers over him and lands a right. Ref lets him up. He’s wobbly. Some uppercuts from Burns inside, showing heart. He eats a counter right off a low kick that knocks him back. Rashid  teeing off at will. Burns on his bicycle. Big low kick from Rashid. Right from Magomedov. Wheel kick from Magomedov just misses connecting very hard with the back of Burns’ head. 10-9 Magomedov.

Round 3 – Burns goes for a takedown but ends up on his back. Rashid lets him up. Counter right from Magomedov. Low kick. Body kick from Burns. Front kick from Magomedov, then a low kick, a right hand, left body kick, left jab. Burns lunges in with a right hook but just misses. Magomedov basically landing at will. Burns presses Rashid to the cage looking for the takedown. Burns keeps looking at the clock and looks totally depleted. Nice body kick from Burns. Under a minute to go and Magomedov continues his measured assault. Nice knee in the clinch from Burns, Magomedov turns it on before the bell. 10-9 Magomedov for a clean sweep.

Alex Oliveira vs. Piotr Hallmann

Round 1 – Uppercuts from Oliveira inside. High kick. Hallmann is cut above his left eye. Oliveira scoring, but gets countered with a left hook. Oliveira controls the clinch for a good length of time, tees off with some strikes, then looks for the takedown. They exchange punches against the cage. Thai plum and knee attempt from Hallmann. Oliveira teeing off again, lands a big uppercut. 10-9 Oliveira.

Round 2 – Left hook from Hallmann. Clinch, knee from Oliveira, then punches. Low kick, but Hallmann times it for a takedown, inside full guard. … Ref stands them up after some time. Beautiful sweeping leg kick drops Oliveira hard. He gives up his back but gets a reversal. North/south position. Hallmann now in half guard on top. Couple elbows from Hallmann. Hallmann may have got that round.

Round 3 – Couple jabs from Oliveira, then gets on his bike for a few seconds. Oliveira then lands two counter right hands and Hallmann drops like a tree that just got sawed in half. Beautiful.

Thomas Almeida vs. Anthony Birchak

Round 1 – Almeida scoring with punches but Birchak fires back with a head kick and a combo. Birchak gets rocked, and after a brief takedown, it’s back up. Left straight from Almeida snaps Birchak’s head back, then a combo. Low kick from Birchak, he shoots in but can’t get the takedown. Counter right hook from Almeida, then a big left in the clinch wobbles Birchak. He lands a couple more than a huge right on the button folds Birchak like yesterday’s laundry.

Glover Teixeira vs. Patrick Cummins

Round 1 – Cummins uses a jab to set up a takedown but Glover right back up. Low kick, uppercut from Cummins. Another takedown from Cummins. Glover right back up again. Clinch, knee from Cummins. Overhand right, left uppercut from Cummins. Right from Glover. Short uppercuts from Cummins. Jab from Glover. Cummins shoots, stuffed. Counter left hook from Glover lands solid. Jab, jab. Cummins with a bodylock, picks Glover up for the takedown but he’s right up. Glover rocks him but Cummins stands tough and is firing back. He gets another takedown, takes half guard on top. Glover gets to his feet. Stiff jab from Teixeira. Uppercuts inside from Cummins. Teixeira ducks into a knee. Eats it. Head kick from Teixeira, overhand right and a couple more shots rock Cummins, he fires an uppercut and drops to his knees at the bell. Saved by the bell. 10-9 Glover.

Round 2 – Teixeira pouring it on early. A stiff jab stuns and forces the shot from Cummins. Texeira goes back to doing work with his punch combinations. Cummins is a busted bloody mess but won’t go down. Glover is picking him apart and referee Herb Dean has seen enough and saves the former wrestler too tough for his own good.

Vitor Belfort vs. Dan Henderson

Round 1 – Hendo should be an inspiration for all 45-year-old men. Of course, he was formerly on TRT, but damn, he’s been doing this a long fucking time. This is gonna be fun. …. LEGEND STATUS here with these two. Reminds me of a Pride fight. Low kick from Dan inside. Again. Dan moving pretty good on the outside. Being patient, waiting for that opening. Respect. Tense. Feinting. Moving. 3 minute mark and a leg kick from Dan. Head kick from Vitor drops Hendo. He goes for the kill and a big punch on the chin knocks Hendo limp for a second and Mario Yamasaki stops the bout. Hendo looks confused. … Now look. Vitor’s been taking a helluva lot of shit lately. And yes, he’s a great whipping boy lately. But that was badass.
