DYNAMITE 1 ROUND-BY-ROUND UPDATES:

King Mo vs. Linton Vassell (semifinals)

Round 1 – We didn’t get to see Mo’s walkout. Mo drops him with a right hook early but he recovers. Vassell shoots but Mo defends. That’s interesting he would shoot on Mo. Nice solid straight right from Mo. Body jab. Overhand right and a left hook from Mo. His hands looking improved. Straight right again. Left hook from Vassell. Jab from Mo. Body shot from Vassell. Mo checks a leg kick. Right hook from Mo, another one stuns Vassell. Clinch against the cage, Mo lands some body shots as he presses Vassell to the fence. Knee and a leg kick from Vassell. Couldn’t tell if the knee landed. Mo lands a left hook behind the head and Vassell goes down. Somehow the ref doesn’t stop it as Mo knocks him down and wobbles him several times. Should have been or could have been stopped in my opinion. Mo landed some huge punches. 10-8 Mo.

Davis lands a solid knee to his back and tries to hold him down. Newton back up and tries to roll out of Davis’ grasp unsuccessfully. Davis looks to be trying to set up a front choke of some sort. What I love is that we can see the evolution of both Davis and Mo’s games.

He’s trying to hurt him but Gonzalez is TOUGH and is still pressing inside trying to smother Daley. Some great action here and Gonzalez is giving Daley all he can handle. Big exchange at the end. Close round and could possibly go either way, but first two were Daley’s so he should have it.

*SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM BELLATOR MMA*

Phil Davis vs. Francis Carmont (light heavyweight tournament final)

Round 1 – In a VERY unfortunate turn of events, King Mo suffered an injury in his fight with Linton Vassell and alternate Francis Carmont will fill in. That sucks. This could have been a big boost for Mo if he were to beat Davis. Well, that’s MMA. This fight is not nearly as compelling to me, but here we go. … Carmont feeling him out for distance, lands a couple kicks to start. Davis switching stances. Davis checks a low kick. Body kick from Davis. GSP in Carmont’s corner giving instruction. Low kick from Carmont, then Davis counters with a left hook that didn’t look that powerful but landed cleanly and Carmont goes down and Phil finishes him off with right hands. That makes me even madder we didn’t get to see King Mo in this fight. Dammit. Phil looking good. That’s an impressive KO win right there.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Phil Davis def. Francis Carmont via knockout (punches) – Round 1, 2:15

Liam McGeary (c) vs. Tito Ortiz – light heavyweight championship

Round 1 – Ortiz with a takedown, briefly caught in a guillotine. Now inside full guard Tito is doing what Tito does, landing some ground and pound. McGeary goes for an armbar but Tito slams his way out. McGeary locks up an inverted triangle and Ortiz taps out quickly. Damn. Tito was on his way to winning this thing but a mental lapse cost him the fight. They show good respect to each other afterward and Tito told him McGeary beat him at his best.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Liam McGeary def. Tito Ortiz via submission (inverted triangle choke) – Round 1, 4:41
