Glover TeixeiraBrazilian light heavyweight contender Glover Teixeira scored an impressive submission victory over hometown fighter Ovince Saint Preux in UFC Fight Night 73’s main event bout, which took place on Saturday night at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.

Teixeira, who had been on a two fight losing skid, bounced back into the win column against a highly touted prospect in Saint Preux. At the post fight press conference Teixeira explained that sticking to his game plan really helped him to emerge victorious.

“The game plan was to pressure this guy and keep grinding him.” he also said “I trained so hard for this fight man, it’s unbelievable.”

When asked if entering the fight with two losses added any pressure, Glover replied:

“You know, I don’t put much pressure on myself because I’m strong mentally, man.” he also said “Things happen, I’m not fighting pushovers you know.” He went on to say “The pressure allows me to show what I’m capable of.” He ended his comments by saying “I trained so hard for this fight, I’m in the best shape of my life.”

He certainly looked in great shape and it seems the win over OSP could put him a fight or so away from a title shot. This was definitely a tough test for the 35-year-old and it solidifies his position as one of the top guys in the division.
