Somehow Ronda Rousey’s next opponent, UFC bantamweight Bethe Correia has moved up in the official UFC rankings.

Correia miraculously jumped two spaces from 7th to 5th by fighting invisible opponents? She hasn’t fought in almost a full year! We all know it really does look better if Ronda Rousey is fighting a top 5 ranked opponent. After a lot of back and forth banter the pair will square off this Saturday at UFC 190 in Brazil.

Check this point out and try not to scratch your head.

The combined UFC record of ALL of her opponents in the octagon is a dismal 1-7. Bethe is less deserving of a title shot than a whole lot of fighters in her division right now. The only reason this fight is happening is because of the bad blood.

Some are comparing this to the Tito Ortiz vs. Chuck Liddell 2 situation. Before his second fight with Chuck Liddell. After his return to the UFC following wins over Vitor Belfort and Patrick Cote, Tito beat a green Forrest Griffin and Ken Shamrock twice. Not exactly a stellar achievement in comparison to a lot of other fighters in the division of the time. The reason that fight was made is money. That fight brought in a lot of it because it was hyped beyond belief that Tito could beat Chuck this time around. They were almost right. Ortiz out maneuvered Chuck in the 2nd round and won it on the scorecards according to most news outlets. In the end it didn’t matter because Chuck pummeled him in to obscurity once again.

Correia is being hyped as Cyborg 2.0 and as a true test to Ronda’s skillset and durability.

What do you think? Does Correia really deserve the shot?
