With all the controversy surrounding Jose Aldo’s injured rib, there’s still some doubt that he’ll be able to defend his featherweight title against Conor McGregor on July 11th at UFC 189. But we have our fingers crossed and the UFC has a contingency plan in place should Aldo pull out.

In the meantime, let’s assume the fight will happen and check out the latest fight odds for Aldo vs. McGregor.

It seems preposterous, but McGregor (17-2) is considered the favorite over Aldo (25-1). Whether it be his charisma, charm, confidence, or the fact that he’s knocked out four of his five opponents thus far inside the Octagon, somehow McGregor has convinced the oddsmakers he’s going to do what nine other men have not been able to do — take Aldo’s title.

The latest fight odds have McGregor the favorite at -150, with Aldo the underdog at +130.

The fact that it’s now known Aldo is coming into the fight with an injured rib could be playing into this as well, but McGregor was considered the favorite even before the news broke of Aldo’s injury.

Thanks to the guys at SBO and their infographic we can take a closer look at how these two match-up standing and on the ground:

Despite McGregor’s impressive performances inside the Octagon so far, he still has never faced a beast like Jose Aldo. But the psychological warfare the Irishman has been playing with the champ for many months now could also mean he’s in Aldo’s head.

It’s an interesting style match-up and they both have the ability to end it early. Will McGregor be able to find Aldo’s chin and end it in the first round like he’s predicted or will the champ silence the trash-talking challenger once and for all?
