Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 is the newest installment of the THPS franchise and adds some new elements to the series. Players will now be able to create their own parks and share them with other players who will be able to download and play them as well. There’s a new multiplayer mode with up to 20 people skating at a time and there’s a new “slam down” feature that allows a player who is in the air to immediately slam down and grind any surface. THPS 5 aims to create more of a skateboarding community feel to the franchise and it’s due for release on Xbox One and PS4 on Sept. 29, 2015.

After watching this trailer as well as the gameplay footage of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 from E3, the actual gameplay doesn’t look much different aside from some special effects enhancements. Fans of the franchise can expect the same button layout, and the overall mechanics seem pretty much the same. Will this latest installment satisfy the skating hunger of new-gen players or will you be better off waiting until Xbox One makes their old Xbox 360 skate games like Skate 3 backward compatible? Some may feel THPS needs a complete overhaul, but what we’ve seen from this newest installmentĀ so far leads us to believe they’re playing it safe on this one. But we’re still gonna get it. Believe that.
