UFC lightweight Bobby Green has withdrawn from his upcoming fight against Al Iaquinta due to an injury. UFC officials have announced that Gilbert Melendez has agreed to replace Green.
Melendez (22-5) just competed this past Saturday, losing a split decision against Eddie Alvarez. He has dropped three of his last four bouts with two of the losses being razor thin split decisions.
Iaquinta (12-3-1) is coming off a controversial split decision win over Jorge Masvidal in his last outing. He has won seven of eight fights since losing in the TUF 15 Finale to Michael Chiesa. Iaquinta was dominating his opponent in the lone loss before getting caught in a choke that forced the ref to stop the fight.
The UFC Fight Night San Diego card will take place on July 15 and will be headlined by the by Frank Mir vs. Todd Duffee heavyweight scrap. The event will take place at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego.
