Huh? Yep, newly crowned UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier will make his first title defense against former title challenger Alexander Gustafsson. Isn’t Alexander Gustafsson coming off a first round KO loss against Anthony Johnson who Cormier just defeated to win the title? Yep. What happened to Ryan Bader who was originally supposed to fight Cormier thie past Saturday before Cormier was pulled from the fight to face Johnson for the title?
I guess the UFC felt that his resume didn’t stack up well enough to earn a title shot, and truthfully he hasn’t beaten anyone of note in my opinion either. Maybe they will match Bader up with Anthony Johnson as I speculated last week? Former UFC light heavyweight Rashad Evans has mentioned that he wanted to fight Bader when he returns to action as well.
