ellenberger jakeUFC officials have announced another fight for the UFC 189 PPV event that’s set for July 11 in Las Vegas, Nevada. A welterweight clash between Jake Ellenberger and Stephen Thompson has been added to the fight card.

The event will take place at the MGM Grande Garden area and will be headlined by the UFC featherweight championship fight between champion Jose Aldo and challenger Conor McGregor. The co-main event will feature the UFC welterweight title fight between champion Robbie Lawler and challenger Rory MacDonald.

Ellenberger (30-9) is coming off a much needed win over Josh Koscheck at UFC 184 earlier this year. Ellenberger had lost three fights in a row, albeit against the upper tier fighters in the division.

Thompson (10-1) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Patrick Cote at UFC 178 this past September. The South Carolina native has rattled off four consecutive victories since suffering the lone defeat of his career in 2012.
