UFC officials have announced that Khabib Nurmagomedov is injured and has pulled out of his bout against Donald Cerrone at UFC 187. John Makadessi has agreed to fight Cerrone at UFC 187.

Makdessi (13-3) is coming off a big TKO win over Shane Campbell at UFC 186. He has won four his last last fights and climbs up the ladder on short notice for the biggest fight of his career.

Cerrone (27-6, 1NC) comes into this bout off a controversial unanimous decision win over Ben Henderson in his last outing. Cerrone has won seven consecutive bouts with this being the second consecutive fight in which he has lost the original opponent due to injury.

UFC 187 will be headlined by the UFC light heavyweight title fight between Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson. The co-main event will feature the UFC middleweight title fight between champion Chris Weidman and challenger Vitor Belfort.

The event will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 23.
