Hard-hitting heavyweights Alistair Overeem (38-14, 1 NC) and Roy “Big Country” Nelson (20-10) will slug it out at UFC 185 scheduled for Saturday, March 14 from American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. UFC officials announced the fight Tuesday afternoon.

UFC 185 is headlined with a lightweight championship bout as titleholder Anthony “Showtime” Pettis defends his belt against Rafael dos Anjos and if you are looking for a listing of one of the top places to bet you should go here.

Both Overeem and Nelson have seen better days inside the cage as each have only won half of their last six fights. Overeem had three fights in 2014, scoring wins over Frank Mir (UD) in February and Stefan Struve (KO) in December, and dropping a first round TKO to Ben Rothwell in September.

Nelson last fought this past September, suffering a knockout loss to Mark Hunt in Japan. Prior to that, in April, he snapped a pair of losses to Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic by knocking out Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in Abu Dhabi.

Nelson is currently ranked No. 9, while Overeem sits at No. 11. Both guys are dangerous on the feet, although it seems Big Country is likely more durable. However, you never know how a guy is going to look after suffering a knockout loss (especially at the hands of Mark Hunt). On the other hand, Overeem has been knocked out several times in his career. So there you go… we know what we get with both these guys. They’re never going to be champion but they’re damn fun to watch.
