UFC officials have announced Edson Barboza and Michael Johnson have verbally agreed to lightweight bout in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 61 that’s set to take place on February 22 in Porto Alegre, Brazil. The event will be headlined by the return of former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans taking on former title challenger Glover Teixeira.
Barboza (15-2) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Bobby Green in his last outing and has won five of his last six contests. Johnson (15-8) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Melvin Guillard in his last outing, but hasn’t fought since April 2014. He has won three consecutive fights heading into this bout with Barboza. The winner of this bout will likely face a top contender in the lightweight division.
