Ronda Rousey’s name has been headlining news sites since her Strikeforce bout with Miesha Tate. Beautiful, strong, outspoken, and talented are just a few of the traits that made her a megastar. She has crossed over from MMA to movies like Expendables 3, and she has shown no signs of slowing down.

Dana White made it clear that Rousey was the reason he changed his mind on women’s MMA. Dana had previously stated that women would never compete in the UFC, but thanks to Ronda’s abilities and charisma a star was born and women were in The Octagon.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan spoke on UFC Tonight about Rousey’s impact on the sport as well as her seemingly endless star power.

“She’s not just a once in a lifetime athlete, she’s a once ever.”

“She’s so dominant. She’s not just a really beautiful girl just getting by, she’s smashing people.”

There are always questions though. Is she really the best female fighter alive today?

She is a bantamweight and the only argument against her supremacy is featherweight Cristiane Cyborg Santos. Cyborg demolished former face of women’s MMA Gina Carano with ease and she quickly became the consensus #1 – until she popped positive on a PED test in 2012, and since then she has never lived it down. Accusations that she’s still on steroids, growth hormones, and even that she’s a man have circulated recklessly throughout the under dwellings of the net called MMA forums over the years. None of those allegations have been proven true, but they are out there nonetheless.

When Rousey beat Strikeforce Champion Miesha Tate in the biggest female fight the MMA world had seen at that point she became a star. She is 5-0 since that victory and doesn’t show signs of wear at all. When Ronda burst on to the scene after crushing Tate, Cyborg immediately began baiting Ronda with taunts through social media and Rousey fired back. The feud has steadily built from a fire to an inferno, which is amazing because Santos isn’t even in the UFC. Ronda won’t go up in weight and Cyborg can’t come down most likely, and if she can make 135 it would be hard for her.

The question of who the most popular fighter is, well that’s obviously Rousey. Is Cyborg still the #1 female fighter in the world?

Rousey will defend her women’s bantamweight title against top contender Cat Zingano on February 28th at UFC 184.

  1. They’re all on performance enhancing drugs, including Ronda.. and Rogan.
You’d have to be stupid to think they’re not. Women cannot build bodies like these “female” fighters without drugs. Women have more reasons to juice than men. Men are naturally strong, powerful, fast, aggressive… women are not. Their weaknesses are exactly what PEDs improve.
    And LOL at
“Cyborg can’t come down most likely, and if she can make 135 it would be hard for her”
(yeah, it would be hard for “her” to lower the drug dosages)
    +
calling Ronda “beautiful”, especially directly under that terrible pic of her.
