UFC officials  have announced that a heavyweight bout between Travis Browne and Brendan Schaub will take place at UFC 181. The event will take place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on December 6.

The event will be headlined by the UFC middleweight title fight between champion Chris Weidman and challenger Vitor Belfort.

Browne (16-2-1) is coming off a unanimous decision loss against Fabricio Werdum in his last outing in April. Browne had won three consecutive fights going into the bout and was on the verge of a title fight with Cain Velasquez. However, the loss the Werdum set him back quite a bit and he’ll look to get back on the winning side of things against Schaub.

Schaub (10-4) is coming off a razor close split decision loss against Andrei Arlovski in his last outing in June. Schaub had won back-to-back fights going into the fight with Arlovski and he arguably won that fight. It should be an interesting and pivotal fight for both fighters in their respective careers.
