joe-riggs

Yes, we realize that this borders on bad taste, but someone took the time to make this twisted animated video of the Joe Riggs shooting incident. The executives dancing on the desk are hilarious and this video has its moments. We at PMN have always been supporters of “Diesel” and wish him a speedy recovery. In case you missed it here was Jack Bratcher’s coverage of the unfortunate shooting as a point of reference.

There’s one sure fire way to make sure you don’t get to make your long-awaited UFC return…

Shoot yourself.

That’s exactly what 31-year-old MMA veteran Joe “Diesel” Riggs did Monday night at his home in Arizona. The UFC has released the following statement:

“We were made aware that newly-signed UFC competitorJoe Riggs was involved in an unfortunate accident last night. While cleaning his permitted firearm (a pistol), the gun discharged, injuring his hand and upper thigh. Riggs was transported to a nearby hospital in Arizona where he is being treated by physicians. We wish Joe a speedy recovery.”

Riggs (40-14, 1 NC) was scheduled to make his first appearance inside the Octagon since 2006 against Paulo Thiago on Sept. 13th in Brazil. A search for a replacement opponent for Thiago is currently underway, and Riggs will still get to make his return on a future card.

“Diesel” trains alongside former UFC lightweight champ Benson Henderson at the MMA Lab in Phoenix. He’s currently riding a six-fight winning streak, most recently defeating Mike Bronzoulis via decision at Bellator 106 last November.
