shannon-knappAll-female MMA organization, Invicta Fighting Championships has signed a deal with the UFC in which UFCFightPass.com is now the exclusive digital broadcaster of all their events. That’s huge!

Now I feel a little bad I said earlier today this street fight should headline the next UFC Fight Pass card. … No I don’t, that was funny.

UFC Fight Pass chief content officer Marshall Zelaznik commented:

“This is a historic multi-year, multi-event deal. When we launched UFC FIGHT PASS last Christmas, we said that we would never rest in bringing the best value to our subscribers. The addition of live and archived Invicta programming is going to be of enormous interest to our existing subscribers and bring in new subscribers, too. UFC FIGHT PASS already has subscribers in over 155 countries, which is a huge platform the Invicta athletes. Invicta fighters are now sharing the same stage as elite UFC fighters like Alexander Gustafson, Conor McGregor, Cung Le and Michael Bisping. For any UFC fans that haven’t seen these women compete before – I guarantee they will be blown away when they see what Invicta is all about.”

Invicta FC president Shannon Knapp also commented:

“This is a great day for my company. Since the start of Invicta, I’ve been committed to providing the biggest and best possible platform for women athletes and, with this distribution deal with UFC FIGHT PASS, Invicta will reach the most passionate MMA fans, wherever they are in the world.”

In addition to streaming every upcoming Invicta event live, the entire Invicta archive will be made available on-demand on the digital subscription service.

The UFC has already scooped up several Invicta FC fighters and has recruited several straw weights for the next season of The Ultimate Fighter.

Also, this could possibly bring Invicta Featherweight champ Cris Cyborg one step closer to a match-up against UFC women’s Bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey down the road.

Invicta’s UFCFightPass.com debut will be announced shortly. They are targeting a late-summer event. Apparently a championship bout between Cris Cyborg and Ediane Gomes will headline that card.

How do you as a fight fan feel about this? Would you rather see Invicta on a television network such as AXStv or Showtime, or do you think this is the right move for the company? Would be interested to know how much UFC is paying for this, and could it eventually lead to a purchase of Invicta by the UFC?

  1. Good move for Invicta….I doubt the UFC will ever outright buy the company since they have a such a good relationship with Knapp…it will basically be a feeder to the UFC for female MMA talent(which is already the case)…

This is also a grab by the UFC to gain more or keep those that have already subscribed to FightPass….
