UFC fighter Wanderlei Silva has seen his image and name tarnished over the last few days with the announcement that he willingly avoided a Nevada State Athletic Commission drug test. According to reports, Silva has not submitted his paper work to obtain a license in Nevada for his UFC 175 bout against Chael Sonnen that was set to take place on July 5th. Silva has release a video in Portuguese with English captions to explain what happened with his dealings with NSAC and his plans to fight Chael Sonnen. Check it out below:

The plan was for Silva and Sonnen to coach on the TUF Brazil 3 reality show in which they did, and then to fight afterwards. However, they actually wound up getting into a scuffle during the filming of the show which pushed the fight back to UFC 175(it was originally supposed to take place on the TUF Brazil 3 Finale). The UFC has announced that Vitor Belfort will replace Silva in the bout against Sonnen, but he must be licenses in Nevada as well so that bout isn’t official yet. In most cases, refusing to take a drug test is looked upon as a failed drug test. It’ll be interesting to see what comes of this when it comes to Silva.

Do you think Silva’s story has any merit?
