UFC officials have announced a change to the upcoming UFC 172 event that’s set for April 26 in Baltimore, Maryland. Former PRIDE standout Takanori Gomi will return to action to face Isaac Vallie-Flagg in a lightweight bout, replacing Danny Castillo who was originally scheduled to face Vallie-Flagg. Castillo will remain on the card against an opponent that will be named soon.

The UFC 172 event will be headlined by the UFC light heavyweight title bout between champion Jon Jones and challenger Glover Teixeira. The co-main event will feature a light heavyweight bout between Phil Davis and Anthony Johnson.

Gomi (34-9, 1NC) comes into this fight off a split decision loss to Diego Sanchez in March 2013. Gomi had won back-to-back bouts going into the bout with Sanchez, including a “Fight of the Night” performance against Mac Danzig.

Vallie-Flagg (14-4-1) comes into this fight off a unanimous decision loss to Elias Silverio in January 2014. It was his first loss since 2007 and his UFC record now stands at (1-1).
