eddie alvarez-bellator 66Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney announced tonight at the live Bellator that the inaugural Bellator MMA PPV will take place on May 17 and will be headlined by the Bellator MMA lightweight title fight between champion Eddie Alvarez and former champion Michael Chandler.

It will be the first Bellator MMA PPV in the company’s short history after the first PPV that was set for November 2013 was scrapped at the last minute due to an injury to Tito Ortiz who was set to take on Rampage Jackson in the main event.

Chandler (12-1) defeated Alvarez (25-3) at Bellator 58 in 2011 to become the new Bellator lightweight champion. However, Alvarez was able to win the rematch at Bellator 106 in 2013 to recapture the Bellator lightweight crown.

Be sure to stay tuned to ProMMAnow.com as more fights and details are added to the event in the very near future.

  1. This should be awesome I’m going to a wrestling show in NYC that’s preety huge and something I can’t pass up so I’ll definetely order the replay of this the next day or later that week. Gonna be a fun night no doubt!

  2. Yea…if the third fight is anything like the last two….should be great…let’s just hope the rest of that PPV doesn’t consist of fights like we got from them last night…
