Anderson Silva leg break

If you haven’t seen the video of Anderson Silva breaking his leg at UFC 168 on Chris Weidman’s shin you are two things – lucky, and living under a rock. The prognosis of his future in MMA has been mixed. Some say he will never be able to return, but Dana White and Anderson both believe it will be sooner than later. He recently spoke to Fantastic and opened up about the injury and his potential return to MMA.

Recovering from surgery to repair the broken bones in his left leg, Silva has forecasted walking again without crutches in 30 days. The former UFC Middleweight Champion has stated that his injury was not accidental, but rather the result of a technical error.

“So I could have given the perfect shot, I would have to have diverted his attention with a punch to the face. Seeing the video, you can see that he is defending the shot from the waist up. He lifted his leg and instinctively became unbalanced. Was a shot as he lost his balance,” said The Spider.

Silva wasn’t done there. He also believes that Chris was not trained to block his kicks properly and to put it bluntly that maybe Weidman got lucky.

“If people analyze the fight and realizing the technical details, they will see that it was an instinctive thing, and not something he had trained to do.”

To finish off his interview Silva made it clear what the outcome of his fight with Chris Weidman would have been would have been if the unfortunate injury had not occurred.

“It was a fatality that happened, the rules are clear. If the fight had continued I’m pretty sure I would have won it.”

Silva had one more message to his fans.

“I’ll be back. I’m strengthening me every day with positive energy from you. Soon I’m back and I hope to be able to give many joys for you, struggling.”

Weidman was clearly winning the fight and floored the former champ in the first round. It appeared that Chris was on his way to proving his first win was no fluke, but thanks to the injury there are still doubters.
