UFC President Dana White announces that Rousimar Palhares has been cut from the UFC following his submission win over Mike Pierce on Wednesday night:

The fight with Mike Pierce which took place at the UFC Fight Night 29 event  in Brazil, is the second time that Palhares has held a submission long after a fighter has tapped out. The first time was a bout in 2010 in a bout with Tomasz Drwal in which Palhares was suspended for 90 days for failing to let the submission go after his opponent had given up.

Palhares offered a statement via his Twitter account after the fight:

Do you think the UFC was just in cutting Palhares? Maybe Palhares didn’t understand the referee’s instructions since he doesn’t speak English? He had to feel Pierce tapping multiple times and verbally submitting as well?

What say you?
