INVICTA FC 6: COENEN vs. CYBORG takes place this evening at the Ameristar Casino Kansas City and will air LIVE on television Pay-Per-View starting at 9 p.m. ET (6 p.m. PT). The PPV will also be available on Ustream for International fans. Preliminary card action will stream live online on InvictaFC.com for FREE starting at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT).

Headlining the card is a 145-pound rematch between Marloes Coenen and Cris Cyborg for the inaugural Invicta FC Featherweight Title. The two first did battle in Strikeforce in 2010 with Cyborg winning via third round TKO. Will she put on a repeat performance tonight?

Round 1 – Kathina Catron steps in for Cassie Robb on less than 24 hours notice. Livia Von Plettenberg came in WAY over weight (7 lbs.) for her first atomweight fight. Touch gloves. Superwoman punch from Catron, then a right. Clinch, knee, short right, leg kick, but Livia puts her on her back, now on top in half guard. She’s trying to pass as Catron holds on. Hammerfists from Livia. She stacks her as Catron goes for an armbar. Scramble and Livia takes her back, both hooks in. Catron spins around and now has top control inside full guard. Catron fights her way to her feet. Livia presses her to the cage landing knees. Catron escapes and fires back with punches. Clinch, knee exchange. They reset in the center and Catron puts her on her back after catching a kick. Catron on top now, looking to pass, stacks her and Livia goes for an armbar. Time up. Round 2 – Catron takes her down early, inside full guard. She lets Livia up. Left jab from Catron, Livia fires back then puts Catron on her back. Livia goes for mount but Catron gives up her back and Livia takes it with both hooks in. Livia looking for the choke as Catron defends. Livia landing several punches to soften Catron up. Side kick from Torres puts Rose on her butt. She gets up and eats a big left from Torres. Torres counters a kick with a nice punch. High kick from Rose. Nice straight left. Torres rocks rose with some nice punches. Rose continues coming forward though. Leg kick. Torres unleashes more punches but eats a right. One minute to go. Big body kick from Torres. Torres catches a body kick and throws Rose down. Rose hops up and runs after her with punches. Torres backs Rose up with punches. Body kick. Rose seems to be fading a bit on her feet. Just when I say that Rose drops her with a front kick. PMN gotta give that round to Torres 10-9

Round 3 – Rose takes the center, left jab. They trade body kicks. Leg kick Torres. Side kick Torres, right from Rose. Nice counter right from Rose. Body kick from Rose, grabs a headlock and hip tosses Torres to the ground. Rose on top in half guard. Rose stands up to try and pass, Torres holding her in half guard. Torres recovers full guard. Rose not doing any damage from top so far. Torres controlling her posture pretty good. Forearm and a right from Rose but she eats a big upkick from Torres. Rose lays her head on Torres’ chest, not sure how much it hurt her. Torres goes for an armbar from the bottom. Rose uses her legs to kick out. Back up, clinched, and Rose gets another takedown before the bell to secure the round. Tough tough fight. PMN sees the round 10-9 for Rose and the fight 29-28 for Rose. King Mo thinks Torres won 2 rounds to 1. I disagree but it was pretty close.

Miriam Nakamoto vs. Duda Yankovich

Round 1 – Duda stalking, clinched against the cage, body shots from Duda, knees from Miriam. Big right elbow from Miriam. Duda with a body lock, they trade knees. Duda pressing her to the cage. Knee to head from Miriam and Duda goes down. Duda goes for a heel hook. Miriam escapes and takes top position with ground and pound. Duda gets to her knees then feet but gets put down with a knee to the head. Miriam finishes her off with punches. Vicious! Fans will remember the controversial stoppage in her last fight against Jessamyn Duke; the fight was later ruled a NC after review due to illegal knee.

Round 1 – Overhand right from Bec. Nice combo but gets countered with a left hook from Inoue. Hyat working a jab. Nice left hook from Inoue. Leg kick from Hyatt. Inside leg kick from Inoue. Bec is a living cartoon. Clinch, dirty boxing from both. Thai plum and knee from Inoue. Bec presses her to the cage. Uppercut from Bec. Inoue turns her around, leg kicks from the clinch from INoue. Thai pul and leg kicks from Inoue. Uppercut from Bec. Nice elbows from Inoue. Knees from Bec. Nice short uppercuts from Inoue. Inoue is only 18 years old folks!! Couple rights from Bec and Inoue backs out. Right from Bec. Overhand right. Blocked. Bec covers up as Inoue unloads a combo and presses her to the cage, gets the trip takedown and goes immediately for an armbar. Bec stacks her and escapes with punches, lands some nice elbows and shots before the bell. Great back and forth round. I think I have to give it to Inoue 10-9.

Round 2 – Bec comes out with punches, clinch, elbow from Inoue, presses Bec to the cage, they trade knees. Bec turns her around, leaning on her. Inoue turns her around, gets the trip takedown again. I still can’t believe this girl is only 18. Inoue postures up with punches in an open half guard. She lands a left right, nice short left elbows to the jaw of Bec. Inoue stands up and passes to side control, she drops some elbows and punches, big knees to the body. She is wearing the Aussie down. Another big knee. Bec gets to her feet. Inoue with big knees to the thighs as she presses Bec to the cage, looking for the trip again. Inoue lands a big punch combo and Bec counters with a nice uppercut. Bec gets to the center, lands some nice right hands before the bell. Inoue puts Bec down real quick right before the bell. PMN sees it 10-9 for Inoue.

Round 3 – Bec measuring with a jab. Lands an uppercut, throws a big overhand right that just misses. One two from Inoue. Nice quick left counter from Inoue. Great boxing defense and offense from Inoue. Big overhand right and uppercuts from Bec. Left to body from Bec. Big right from Inoue. Nice combo from Bec backs Inoue up. Head kick from Bec. Jab, jab from Inoue, Right cross. Bec lands an overhand right and left hook and unloads a big combo. They trade knees. Nice quick left jab from Inoue. Nice right from Bec, again. Bec’s boxing looking good now. Inoue with a nice combo. King Mo feels Inoue has some of the best boxing he’s seen in MMA. Nice couple uppercuts from Hyatt. Left hook from Inoue, again. Bec backs her into the cage, knee. Inoue turns her around, big knee to the body. Again. Knee and uppercut from Hyatt. AMAZING FIGHT! Inoue is not even breathing hard guys!! This girl will be a champion. Mark those words. PMN sees the round 10-9 for Bec but the fight 29-28 for Inoue.

Clinch, left hook from Calderwood as Center presses her to the cage. Knee from Calderwood. Center backs out. Body kick. Calderwood clinches, lands a nice elbow. Leg kick. Center shoots for a single. Calderwood defends, lands a nice one two. Leg kick Calderwood. Left from Center. Calderwood presses her to the cage. Foot stomp from Jo Jo. Knees to body. Norma drops levels but attempt is stuffed. Calderwood lands a knee and several punches. Center escapes to the center of the cage. Calderwood stalking. Nice one two. Knee, left hook. Calderwood backs her to the cage, elbow, again. Center gets a takedown before the bell but Calderwood gets right up with no damage taken. PMN sees it 10-9 Calderwood.

Round 2 – Touch gloves. Leg kick from Jo Jo. Right hand from Center. Right from Center. Left jab from Jo Jo as she stalks. Leg kick inside from Jo Jo. Nice leg kicks and punches to the face back Center to the cage. Clinched, knees from Jo Jo. Two big right hands from Jo Jo cause Center to escape to the center. Leg kick from Jo Jo. Right jab from Center. Jo Jo presses her to the cage. Knee to body, again. Center goes for the takedown, sprawl. Back up and Center lands a couple nice big punches. Jo Jo fires back as they square up in the center. Leg kick from Jo Jo, hands down, clinch, knees as Jo Jo stuffs the takedown. Leg kick from Calderwood before the bell. PMN sees it 10-9 for Jo Jo.

Round 3 – Touch gloves. Jo Jo stalking. Side to side from Center. Leg kicks from Jo Jo. Center shoots, gets a single leg takedown. Jo Jo scoots her back to the cage right away and is already getting up. Center has a double leg, but Jo Jo grabs one of her legs and Center lets her go, pressing her to the cage, they trade knees. Center drops levels and gets a double leg. Jo Jo goes for an armbar. Center caught in it for some time with 1:30 left in the round now. Bit of a stalemate here. The ref stands them up from the armbar attempt. Nice exchange and leg sweep by Jo Jo before the bell. PMN sees it 10-9 and 30-27 for Calderwood.

Right counter from Penne. Nice one two from Calanoc. Penne’s had enough and shoots a nice double leg putting Nicdali on her back. Penne on top in half guard, passes to full mount and looking for a guillotine, cranking it. Lets it go, postures up with punches. Nicdali gives up her back. Penne going for the choke with a body triangle locked on. Nicdali taps out just a second or two before the bell. Penne pushes her off and hops up to celebrate. Nicdali is clearly upset.

Front kick to the face from Maia as Smith stalks, catches a kick and puts Maia on her back. Smith inside full guard. Maia looks for an armbar. Smith postures up and Maia gets to her feet. Smith goes for an armbar in the clinch. Maia is free and they wrestle in the clinch until Maia escapes to the center. Smith comes with punches. Body kick from Maia. Nice left right right from Maia. Smith continues to come forward with a high volume of punches. Body shot from the clinch from Smith. Knee from Maia, jab as she backs out. Smith stalking. Jab, one two three combo. Right on the exit from Maia. Front kick to the face. Head kick from Smith rocks Maia. Smith unloads punches and Maia fires back. Body kick from Maia. Awesome round! Round 2 – Nice combo from Maia as they fire off in the pocket. Clinched up, Maia takes it to the ground but ends up on the bottom with Smith inside full guard. Big lefts hands from Smith. Smith postures up and Maia kicks her off. Left from Maia as she stands up. Smith lands a right. Head kick by Smith. Now a body kick. Left from Maia. Body kick from Smith. They are standing in the pocket and just throwing down. Clinch and couple knees from Smith. Jab from Maia. Right hand from Smith, leg kick. Left jab from Maia. Beautiful left head kick from Smith connects to the jaw. Maia’s had enough and gets the takedown. Smith going for an armbar with under a minute to go. Belly down, extended. They roll, Smith loses it, goes for a toe hold now. Maia escapes. Just amazing. PMN sees it 10-9 Smith.

Round 3 – They come out swinging in the pocket. Head kick from Smith. Left jab. Maia takes an eye poke and time is called. Smith unloads punches and Maia fires back in the pocket. Maia pressing forward now, Smith turns her around to the cage and staggers Maia with an elbow, not letting her breathe she keeps unloading punches, throws a kick and Maia catches it and takes her down. Leslie gets to top position in half guard, drops an elbow. Big body shots as Smith holds a guillotine position. Smith postures up with big left hands and elbows. She stands over her with more punches and moves to the other side, back in half guard, postures up with a big flurry of punches. More big punches from Smith as she tries to finish her before the bell. Great 125 lbs. debut for Smith. PMN sees it 10-9 and 30-27 for Smith.

Sarah gets back up but gets put back down. Sarah working hard to get back up as Taylor holds the single. Sarah jumps on her back, one hook in and is looking for an armbar. Sarah loses the armbar as Taylor escapes to her feet. Taylor looking for the takedown against the cage. Taylor bounces her off the cage and uses it to scoop out her legs to put her on her back. Taylor inside her full guard, controlling her until the bell. Hard round to score but I have to give it to Taylor for the control. PMN sees it 10-9 Taylor.

Round 2 – Leg kick from Sarah. Superwoman punch. Right uppercut counter from Sarah. Nice body kick from Sarah. Taylor catches it, lets it go. Leg kick from Sarah. Taylor catches it, lets it go. Sarah takes a low blow and time is called. Commentator Julie Kedzie assures us that that indeed does hurt for women. Sarah shakes it out and is ready to go. Uppercut from Sarah. Left hand. Left counter from Taylor. Nice one two from Taylor. Nice jab. Uppercut from Sarah, left hook. Two leg kicks. Taylor catches the second, presses her to the cage looking for the takedown. Sarah defends. Taylor switches to a double and scoops her to the ground. Not for long as Sarah gets up and lands a couple of rights to create some distance. Jab from Taylor, right hand follows. Leg kick from Sarah. PMN sees it 10-9 for Taylor.

Round 3 – Leg kick from Sarah. Taylor counters with some nice jabs. Nice one two from Taylor. Right from Sarah. Again. Sarah pressing. Leg kick. Sarah landing some nice left and right hands. Claudia Gadelha vs. Ayaka Hamasaki

Round 1 – Clinch against the cage, they jockey for position. Gadelha with a nice trip takedown, landing on top in half guard. She drops some right hands as Hamasaki grabs wrist control Gadelha with left hands to the body, she moves into side choke position, trying to get free of half guard. Hamasaki tries to buck out but Gadelha stays in control on top. 2 minutes to go. More body shots from Gadelha. Gadelha maintains this position the rest of the round working the occasional ground and pound, Hamasaki fights her way up and eats an illegal knee to the face right at the bell. Gadelha is deducted a point. Makes it a 9-9 round.

Round 2 – Hamasaki shoots in ducking under punches. Gadelha defends and gets a trip takedown of her own. Gadelha passes to side control, knee to belly, back to side control. Nice elbows from Gadelha. Body shots with her right fist. Hammerfists to the body. Rights to the body and lefts to the face from Gadelha, now in half guard. Gadelha sees the opening and takes full mount. Her top game is super tight. She postures up with a big elbow and punches — utter domination. She locks up a head and arm choke. Hamasaki trying to get out but survives the round. PMN sees it 10-9 for Gadelha.

Round 3 – Left hand from Gadelha. Clinches up and puts Hamasaki down, looking for an arm triangle from the bottom. Hamasaki gets free and now has top control in half guard. Gadelha sweeps and now is on top, Hamasaki gives up her back. Gadelha stretches her out with both hooks in, landing punches. Hamasaki rolls over so Gadelha is now in full mount. Under 2 minutes to go. Big hammerfists and punches from Gadelha. Big right hand and Hamasaki is hurt, she rolls over and covers up and Gadelha finishes her off with punches after improving to a perfect 11-0. She will go on to challenge Carla Esparza for the title.

If Coenen could tire her out that would be a good strategy. Cyborg postures up with big punches. Coenen looks for an arm and Cyborg pulls out. Cyborg dives in with punches. Coenen defends and Cyborg stands back up. Ref lets Coenen up. Leg kick from Coenen, Cyborg catches it and drops her with a right hand. Cyborg takes side mount. Postures up with a big right to the body. Ref lets Coenen up. Nice right from Coenen. Clinch, knees to the body from both. Coenen tries to jump into an armbar but loses it. Ref lets her up. Round 2 – Leg kick Coenen, she shoots, ends up on bottom with Cyborg in side mount. Big knee to the ribs from Cyborg. Cyborg gets out and to her feet. Coenen gets up to meet her. Front kick Coenen. Clinch, quick body lock takedown from Cyborg, in side control. She drops a couple elbows. Coenen goes for a leg and Cyborg escapes to her feet. Cyborg stacks her with a couple right hands. Ref lets Coenen up. Left hand from Coenen, right hand. Cyborg seems to hurt her with a body shot. Coenen goes down and covers up and Cyborg takes top control with a knee. Ref lets Coenen up. Body lock takedown from Cyborg. I think she’s hurt and Cyborg nor the ref sees it. Cyborg dives in with punches, now goes for a leg lock. She lets Coenen up. Big leg kick from Cyborg. Coenen shoots into a brick wall and Cyborg pushes her over to take top control. PMN sees it 10-9 Cyborg.

Round 3 – Jabs from Cyborg. Leg kick Coenen. Cyborg with the takedown. She lets Coenen up though. Clinch, knee to body, takes her down and lets her up. Nice right from Coenen. Cyborg with a right to the body right to the head. Body lock from Cyborg, knee exchange. Coenen sort of pulls guard and Cyborg drops punches from half guard. Coenen defending well, she stands up and lets Coenen up. Leg kick from Cyborg, right hand from Coenen but Cyborg takes her down again, lets her up. One two Cyborg. Coenen with a lazy shot, stuffed, big knees from Cyborg. She pushes Coenen to the cage. Cyborg lands a big body shot and a punch flurry from hell as Coenen covers up. Cyborg finishes off the battering with a leg kick as Coenen holds on for dear life. Elbow from Coenen. Underhooks from Cyborg. Thai plum and knees from Cyborg. Cyborg backs out and they trade shots. PMN sees it 10-9 for Cyborg. This will be Cyborg’s first time going to the 4th round.

Round 4 – Coenen looks quite discouraged. High kick Coenen. Coenen catches a kick. Right hand from Cyborg. Thai plum, knee. Clinch game, Coenen puts her against the cage with a few knees of her own. Cyborg gets an easy body lock takedown. Now from half guard Cyborg lands some shots. Coene lands an illegal upkick and time is called to see if she’s okay. She’s fine. HUGE leg kicks from Cyborg. She stuns Coenen with a huge right cross to the jaw and Coenen staggers to the ground. That’s power!  Cyborg takes full mount on the BJJ black belt and postures up with huge body and head shots. Big elbows from Cyborg and Coenen just covering up. Cyborg being very measured with her attack. That’s it. Big John has seen enough. Complete domination. Cyborg is the new Invicta FC featherweight champ.
