We reported that the original UFC 161 main event had been scratched when UFC interim bantamweight champion Renan Barao was forced to withdraw from his bout against Eddie Wineland last week.
The new main event will feature a light heavyweight bout between former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans and former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Dan Henderson.
The co-main event will feature a rematch from PRIDE when former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua takes on Antonio Rogerio Nogueira; Rua won the 2005 matchup via unanimous decision. Nogueira is coming off a big upset win over Rashad Evans in his last fight, and will be looking to build on that momentum and avenge a prior loss to Rua.
The UFC 161 card will take place on June 15 from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and will take place at the MTS Centre.
