[ads1]jacareRonaldo “Jacare” Souza will make his UFC debut this weekend against up and coming middleweight prospect Chris Camozzi. He will be hoping for a big win to mark his arrival in the world’s top Mixed Martial Arts organisation.

With a home soil advantage, Jacare will follow in the footsteps of his fellow Strikeforce colleagues who made the transition over to the UFC after the organisation was shut down, many who have been doing very well.

With a point to prove to the Ultimate Fighting Championship bosses and the world, Jacare has an opportunity to shine on Saturday night and send a message to the middleweight division.

UFC on FX 8 takes place at the Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Santa Catarina, Brazil, on May 18. Souza will have the support of a home crowd and the advantage of not having to travel too far for the actual event, which has to make the whole experience a lot more comfortable for the Brazilian.

Not only is Jacare a former Strikeforce middleweight champion, but he has also picked up a large number of grappling and submission wrestling awards. He is a 5-time World Jiu-Jitsu Champion, and is widely regarded as one of the top BJJ practitioners around.

Couple that with an ever improving striking game and Souza has to be considered one of the most dangerous 185-pound fighters in the sport today. He is currently ranked No. 8 among all UFC middleweights. The big question now is can he deliver on Saturday night?

With his skill set and experience in MMA you would expect Jacare to do very well, but will octagon jitters become a factor, will he feel pressure to deliver an impressive finish and will this effect his ability to perform on the night? These are questions that can only be answered once the cage door shuts.

A win for Jacare should solidify his No. 8 ranking, while a win for Camozzi could possibly put him in the top 10 for the first time. This is definitely a fight to watch out for and I for one cannot wait to see what happens.
