[ads1]Multiple outlets have reported that lightweights Joe Lauzon and Michael Johnson will do battle on the inaugural UFC on FOX Sports 1 event that will take place on August 17 in Boston. Lauzon spoke about the announcement in a video blog today:
Lauzon (22-8) is coming off an absolute war against Jim Miller at UFC 155 where they won “Fight of the Night honors”. Lauzon is a Boston native and one of the most exciting fighters in the UFC, so it was only natural to see him get on this card.
Johnson (12-8) is coming off a submission loss against Reza Madidi in April. Johnson has lost back-to-back fights after winning three in a row in 2012.
A welterweight bout between Thiago Alves and Matt Brown is also set to take place on the UFC on FOX Sports 1 card.
