Chris WeidmanThe MMA Tonight crew returned to the 102.5 FM (Nashville) radio airwaves Wednesday night with guest, top UFC middleweight contender Chris Weidman, who will be battling longtime reigning champion Anderson Silva at UFC 162 in July.

Weidman shared his thoughts on the Silva receiving a $50,000 fine for recently missing a scheduled UFC press conference in California to promote their fight. He also explained what this fight means to him, his evolution from wrestler to grappler to complete MMA fighter and whether or not he thinks ring rust will be an issue on fight night.

Weidman hypothesized on what he would have been had he not been a fighter, talked about his contempt of the IOC’s plans to eliminate wrestling from the Olympics and shared the gameplan he intends to use to defeat the man largely considered the greatest fighter to ever live when they face off July 6 in Las Vegas.

In addition to talking to Weidman, hosts Darren McFarland, Ed Clay and Chris Pappas shared their thoughts on Weidman vs. Silva. They also discussed the future of Jon Jones at light heavyweight and heavyweight and what’s next for Chael Sonnen. Ed talked about his recent visit with Brandon Vera and what his future may hold and the guys reviewed Ovince Saint Preux‘s recent UFC debut at UFC 159. All this and much more.
