On May 11, the V3 ‘Legion’ welcomes the return of the “Baby Dragon” Sammy Lua as he steps into the cage to face arguably the best pound for pound fighter in the mid-south area, Ronnie Lawrence (champion) for the bantamweight title.

Lua is a former champion in two different weight divisions (bantamweight and lightweight) and wants nothing more than to get his belt back. About two years ago, he was in the same position that Lawrence is in now. According to president Nick Harmeier, “Back when Sammy first fought for us and won the belt, he seemed unstoppable. Now Ronnie is being talked about in the same way. This is going to be an awesome main event!”

Lua has since moved to Louisiana and now has a record of 17-2 and fights out of Global Hit Squad. He has always been known for his ground game, where many say that his best opportunity for victory. He’s an extremely dangerous and accomplished grappler no matter what position he is in and when asked about his opponent and upcoming fight, here is what Lua had to say: “Ronnie is a good fighter and has everything figured out. I wasn’t impressed with Marquese Branch’s performance, but I was really impressed with Ronnie. I’m excited about this opportunity and jumped at the chance to fight him and get my belt back.”

Lua has beaten a “who’s who” list of opponents for the past couple of years. Will Ronnie Lawrence be the next??? We will find out on May 11!!

This event will be aired on Comcast Sports South
