However, there were three fighters that took home some extra cash for their efforts in the octagon.

Pat Healy, Jim Miller, and Roy Nelson were all winners of UFC bonuses at UFC 159.

Pat Healy and Jim Miller took home “Fight of the Night” honors for their back and forth battle that was the first bout on the PPV portion of the event. Healy survived a rough first round where he was almost finished to come back and take the second round with a combination o pressure, wrestling, and ground and pound. The third round was more of the same as Miller started to fade, and Healy was able to sink in the rear naked choke after softening Miller up with strikes from the back mount position. Healy also won “Submission of the Night” for his efforts.

Roy Nelson took home “Knockout of the Night” honors for his first round decapitation of Cheick Kongo. The bout started out with Nelson and Kongo clinched against the cage. Nelson was able to disengage and land his patented overhand right that put Kongo on his butt. Kongo looked to get up quickly but Nelson caught him with a big right as he was about to get up that put him back down for the count.
