UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson

The UFC on FOX 8 has a main event and co-main event according to UFC officials. UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson will take on John Moraga in the UFC on FOX 8 main event that’s set for July 27 at the KeyArena in Seattle, Washington. The co-main event will feature a women’s bantamweight fight between Miesha tate and Liz Carmouche.

Johnson (17-2-1) was set to originally defend his title against John Moraga at the TUF 17 Finale in April, but a shoulder injury forced him to withdraw from the bout. Johnson last defended his title in January, defeating John Dodson in a very exciting bout on the UFC on FOX 6 card.

Moraga (13-1) is coming off a victory over Chris Cariaso at UFC 155 in December 2012. Moraga has won back-to-back fights in the UFC with his lone loss coming against the aforementioned John Dodson in December 2010.

Tate (13-4) is coming off a “Fight of the Night” performance in his UFC debut against Cat Zingano. Tate lost the bout via third round TKO which some argue was a slightly early stoppage. She’ll be taking on Liz Carmouche who made history with Ronda Rousey as one half of the first women’s MMA fight in the UFC in February at UFC 157. Carmouche lost the bout via first round submission, and both fighters will be looking to get back on the winning side of things.

The UFC on FOX 8 card so far:

  • Demetrious Johnson vs. John Moraga
