Daniel Cormier neutralized Frank Mir with a smothering performance, dominating the action on the feet and controlling position on the cage en route to a lopsided unanimous decision victory with scores of 30-27 across the board.

Frank Mir came out with kicks to start as Cormier marched forward to start the bout. Cormier took his time getting started, as he continued to stalk Mir around the cage. He then put Mir on the fence and went to work, landing with dirty boxing and knees inside. After a restart, Cormier landed a head kick then showed off his hand speed, peppering Mir with combinations and putting him right back on the cage. Cormier then went to the body, landing with big combinations to the midsection as he alternated punches with knees to the legs. After another restart, Cormier continued to score inside as the round ended.

Cormier went right back to the same strategy to start the second, landing with punches from the outside before working inside to put Mir on the cage. Cormier fired from inside as Mir responded with knees but the action wasn’t enough to prevent a referee restart. Mir managed to land isolated kicks but was unable to prevent Cormier from controlling him along the cage. Cormier again went back to the body, then followed up with a flush uppercut as time wound down on the round.

Mir came out with a sense of urgency in the third firing off a series of kicks, but again found himself with his back on the cage. Cormier uncorked back-to-back right hands, but it was Mir that started to score as he got his kicks working. Mir was unable to sustain his attack however, as Cormier again closed distance and scored inside with power shots. A stall in the action prompted yet another restart with less than 2:30 left in the round. Mir went right back to his kicks but again Cormier responded, firing off a quick combination of punches before putting Mir back on the cage. Mir was given one last shot with a late restart but was unable to mount any significant offense before the bell.

With scores of 30-27 across the board, Daniel Cormier remains perfect at 12-0 (1-0 UFC) with the unanimous decision victory.
