Jessamyn_Duke_2Kentucky native Jessamyn “The Gun” Duke (2-0) is set to face Miriam Nakamoto (1-0) in a bantamweight matchup at Invicta FC 5 later this week. The event takes place at the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City on April 5.

Jessamyn is one of the most promising female talents in the 135lb division, with a solid amateur record of 5-2 and a professional record of 2-0. Duke has the chance to extend her winning streak to three with a good performance against Nakamoto, who has a sound background in Muay Thai.

Jessamyn recently spoke to Pro MMA Now and gave her thoughts on the upcoming fight:

“I think it’s gonna be an exciting fight, and I really don’t think that there’s gonna be any need for the judges in our fight on Friday.” Duke also said. “This is gonna be an awesome fight. I think that we’re both coming in and we’re both gonna be trying to finish each other and that’s great. That’s the kind of fight that fans love.”

Jessamyn also expressed how honored she is to be fighting Nakamoto and that she has been following her career for a while. Miriam’s camp were apparently unhappy about Jessamyn’s comments on the fight not going to the judges, but Duke explained that she meant no disrespect. However, she is planning to get the job done on Friday night.

“Make no mistake, I am coming to finish the fight. If that upsets them or offends them I am very sorry, but I’m assuming she is coming to do the same, so there really shouldn’t be any hard feelings about it. We’re not playing golf, we’re doing MMA.”

“The Gun” last fought at Invicta FC 3 in October 2012, where she scored a first round submission victory over Marciea Allen. Prior to that she picked up a third round TKO win over Suzie Montero at Invicta FC 2 in July 2012. Duke will no doubt look to maintain her undefeated pro status with a big win over Nakamoto on April 5.
