Cris Cyborg (10-2, 1 NC) has a new opponent for her Invicta FC 5 bout on Friday, April 5 at Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City. Cyborg’s original opponent, Ediane “India” Gomes has been forced to withdraw due to a rib injury suffered in training. Replacing Gomes will be rising featherweight Fiona Muxlow (6-2) of Townsville, Queensland Australia.

Muxlow was originally scheduled to face Julia “The Jewel” Budd (4-2) on the card. A new opponent will be announced for Budd shortly.

The 35-year-old Muxlow had been on a three-fight win streak before dropping a first round submission to Marloes Coenen at DREAM 18 on New Year’s Eve in Japan.

Muxlow began her professional career in June 2007 by defeating three women in one night, all by submission, in a Princesses of Pain featherweight tournament in New Zealand.

Cyborg has been on the sidelines since December 2011 when she tested positive for a banned substance following her win over Hiroko Yamanaka at Strikeforce. Cyborg, who was the Strikeforce women’s featherweight champion at the time, was stripped of her title and the win was overturned to a No Contest.

Invicta FC 5 will be headlined with an Atomweight Championship bout as champion Jessica Penne puts her title on the line against Michelle “The Karate Hottie” Waterson. And in the co-main event, Vanessa Porto faces Barb Honchak for the Invicta FC Flyweight Title.

Invicta FC 5 will stream LIVE online via HD satellite feed for $9.95. Those wanting to attend the event in Kansas City can purchase tickets at TicketFly.com.
