UFC 158: St-Pierre vs. Diaz” takes place this evening at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. In the main event UFC longtime reigning welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre puts his title on the line once again as he faces the pride of Stockton, California, Nick Diaz.

In the co-headliner the man many believe to be the true No. 1 welterweight contender, Johny Hendricks, takes on Carlos Condit, who himself is coming off a championship fight loss to St-Pierre.

Also on the card and nipping at the heels of these four top 170-pounders is Jake Ellenberger and (to a lesser degree) Nate Marquardt, who will do battle to move one step closer to title contention.

Shoulder strike. PMN scores it 10-9 for Duran. — I would have scored it for Roop had he not got staggered with the big right left combo.

Round 2 – Inside leg kick from Roop. Duran shoots for a single, pushes Roop to the cage. Roop spins around to his back with a body lock and drags Duran down, gets one hook in looking to take his back. Roop looking for the choke, softening Duran up with punches. Duran gets to his feet but Roop stays on him with the clinch. Knee from Duran. Roop pressing him to the cage. He backs up, lands a kick to the body. Duran gets the takedown. Insie full guard Duran gives some body shots. Elbows and punches from Roop off his back. Roop with a great defensive guard. He scoots his back to the cage and gets to his feet. He turns Duran to the cage, gives a few punches. Duran turns him around to the cage. PMN sees it 10-9 for Roop — Wy? Because Duran did absolutely no damage.

Round 3 – Roop’s corner telling him if he wins this round he wins the fight. I would not be counting on that if I were him. Front kick from Roop. Duran with the takedown. But Roop gets right up. Duran pressing him to the cage. Knee from Roop, he turns Duran around, gives several punches to the body. Knee from Duran. More punches to the body and a knee from Roop. Punches to the head, knee from Roop. Knee from Duran, but more punches from Roop. They trade knees. Roop still pressing on him to the cage, he drops down and gets the takedown, inside Duran’s full guard with half the round gone. Duran gets to his feet. Roop with a body lock from behind, drags Duran down but he pops right up and the struggle in the clinch as Duran drops levels for a single. Knee from Roop. Clinch war with Duran pressing Roop to the cage. One minute to go. Elbow from Roop. Knee from Roop, another one. Another. Duran doing NOTHING. They trade knees. Tamura gets to his knees , TJ rides his back, north/south, knee to chest from TJ. Issei to his feet as TJ drops levels and gets the single. But Tamura gets right to his feet. TJ pressing him to the cage, big knees to the thighs from TJ. Body lock takedown from TJ but Tamura gets right up. TJ pressing him to the cage and landing knees. Short punch to head and body. Boos from the crowd. Knee to body from Tamura. Elbow from TJ as ref calls for action. Ref breaks them up as the crowd cheers in approval. TJ just misses a head kick. Again, just grazing the head of Tamura. Leg kick, right hand. Misses a front kick. Knee to body. Tamura tries to counter with punches but misses. I have it 10-9 for TJ.

Round 2 – Touch gloves. TJ fakes low by looking down getting Tamura ducking then catches him perfectly with a knee to the chin (via round kick) that puts Tamura on his back. TJ follows up immediately with several punches and Tamura is out cold. Beautiful finish!

Nice knee from Mulhern catches him coming in. Story hurts him with a big left, Mulhern crumples after taking another couple left hooks and Story finishes him off with punches. One of those left hooks in Mulhern right in the eyeball and he was having trouble seeing.

Mein hops over Miller to escape the armbar and gets back to his feet to the cheers of the crowd. Nice straight right from Miller stuns Mein. Big leg kick. Elbow from Mein. Body kick from Miller, eats a right counter. Leg kick Miller. Mein stalking. Straight left from Miller. Jab from Mein. Straight left on the chin crops Miller. He lets Miller up. Big overhand right from Mein. Body kick Miller. Mein measuring him. Jab, jab, jab, jab, Miller retreats. Mein attacks with two big left hooks to the body and Miller goes down. Mein follows up with several big shots as Miller covers up in fetal position. Ref steps in and saves Miller. Amazing performance from Jordan Mein in his UFC debut over a durable veteran.

Round 1 -Touch gloves. Elins shoots, stuffed. Shoots again, stuffed again. Presses Carvalho to the cage, backs out swings and misses. Left hook from Carvalho. Left hook counter from Carvalho, big leg kick buckles Elkins. Elkins shoots again, stuffed, two knees to the body from Elkins. Clinched against the cage, dirty boxing, Carvalho backs out. Left hook from Elkins. Right from Elkins wobbles him, he lands a left, then another right that drops Carvalho and as Carvalho jumps right up to his feet, referee Yves Lavigne stops it. Very bad premature stoppage. But Elkins gets the win. You know, stoppages like that might make one wonder if someone had money on the fight to end in the first round? Woops did I say that? Complete bulls–t.

Round 1 -Touch gloves. They come out and quickly start exchanging. Leg kick from Cote, nice punch combo exchange. Nice right left from Cote backs Voelker up. Clinch, underhooks from Voelker. Chants of “Cote” roar through the arena. Cote turns him to the cage. Voelker turns him around, Cote turns him back around. Right elbow from Cote on the break. Lef jab, straight right from Cote. Cote ducks a combo. Left hook from Cote, another left hook. Voelker lands a left and Cote acknowledges it by shaking his head yes. Voelker gets a takedown. Cote goes for an armbar. Voelker gets free of it, now inside full guard with ground and pound. Cote throws up his legs again for an armbar attempt. Voelker pulls free. Ground and pound from Voelker, Cote goes for the armbar again. Voelker pulls free. Cote with full guard, tries to sweep. Voelker postures up with punches but is not able to get much going as Cote stays very active. PMN sees it 10-9 for Cote.

Round 2 – Nice right uppercut from Cote. Voelker eats it in the pocket. Cote’s boxing looking very nice. Leg kick from Voelker.  Left hook Cote. Inside leg kick. Leg kick Voelker. Nice right from Cote, leg kick. Left hook, leg kick, right hook to the body. Left to body, right to head, leg kick. Voelker puts him on the cage, Cote turns him around. Knee from Voelker. Cote backs up with big punch combinations and a right as he backs up. Voelker with a nice combo as he presses Cote to the cage. Cote turns him around and backs out. Jab from Voelker. Cote tries to shoot and eats a knee, again! Cote presses him to the cage. Knee from Voelker. 1:30 left in the round. Body body head head as Cote backs out. Big body kick from Cote. Big knee from Voelker as Cote ducks into it. Cote’s face is bloody. Clinch, he presses Voelker to the cage. Body lock takedown from Voelker but Cote gets right up, clinched against the cage. They break free and Voelker lands a big combo. Cote gets a takedown before the bell. PMN sees it 10-9 Voelker.

Round 3 – Voelker gets the best of a punch exchange, they clinch up and Cote presses him to the cage. He drops levels for a single. Cote backs out, jumping knee from Cote. Just misses. Body kick. Leg kick from Voelker. Knee from Voelker as they clinch against the cage. Cote with a nice elbow on the break. Left right from Voelker and a big knee as Cote shoots, eating it. Cote with the body lock but can’t get the takedown. Voelker reverses it and gets Cote on his back. Voelker inside his full guard with half the round to go. Cote throws up his legs for an armbar but eats several shots to pay for it. Cote gets to his knees trying to get up. He’s up but Voelker forces him back down. He’s back up but Voelker puts him on his back. Cote locks up an arm but loses it. Gets to his knees and covers up. Gets to his feet. Voelker presses him to the cage. Voelker drops levels and dumps him on his back. Voelker with hammerfists and punches from half guard. PMN has it 10-9 and 29-28 for Voelker.

Body kick from Nate but Jake counters with punches and Nate goes down and out.  Jake landed a left, then right that dropped Nate. Nate goes for a leg, eats a right to the side of the head and Nate goes face first to the mat. Big power!

Round 1 –  Hendricks has a crazy little smirk on his face. Buffer called this the main event by accident. Leg kick Condit. Big left from Hendricks connects and backs Condit up.  Hendricks swarms with big punches and slams Condit then walks away. Switch kick and a left from Condit. Hendricks takes him down. Hendricks on top in half guard. Condit gets up, but Hendricks pulls him down. Condit throws up for an armbar. Hendricks inside full guard. Elbows from Condit from his back. Nice elbow to the side of the head from Condit. he lets Condit up. Leg kick Condit, outside this time. Hendricks comes in with left hooks that miss, goes for the slam and Condit lands on his feet. Hendricks gets him down. Condit rolls. Ends up on his knees with Hendricks holding his head, kne on the break. Front kick Condit. Hendricks with big shots to the body and head. Condit goes for a kimura, takes Hendricks back as he stands up, both hooks in. Condit stands, They trade big shots and Hendricks gets a takedown. Wow! Awesome fight. PMN sees it 10-9 Hendricks.

GSP in side control, tries to take Nick’s back. Nick recovers guard. GSP dives in with a punch that misses. Elbow. Nick gets to his knees. GSP rides his back, Nick roll, gets to his knees. Nick gets up GSP drags him back down. Takes Nick’s back with both hooks in, Nick peels him off. Nick gets to his feet. 30 seconds left. GSP with a slam as Nick looks for a kimura. Ref controls Nick as the round ends so he doesn’t go after GSP. PMN has it 10-9 for GSP.

Round 2 – Leg kick Diaz, front kick GSP. GSP starts to engage him with striking, Nick throws a couple punches but gets put down easily. GSP inside his full guard. Closed. GSP postures up with punches. Butterfly half guard from Nick, gets to his knees. Huge knee to the body from GSP. Nick gets to his feet, GSP jumps on his back. Nick recovers full guard. Big elbow from GSP. Nick gets to his knees now his feet. Nick gets up and they square up. Less than a minute to go though. Leg kick GSP. Superman punch from GSP. Body kick Nick. Leg kick GSP. Leg kick GSP. Nick talking smack to him as the ref pulls him away. PMN has it 10-9 GSP.

Round 3 – Nick talking smack as GSP lands a jab. Another jab. Front kick. Leg kick GSP. Nick stuffs the takedown for once.  Not this time though. Nick gets to his knees and feet. GSP with a body lock. GSP lets go after a kimura attempt. Front kick GSP. Nick stuffs the takedown. Jab jab from GSP. Huge body shot from Diaz. Leg kick GSP. Leg kick Diaz, again. Jab from GSP, body kick. One two from GSP, shoots, stuffed. Is that a sign he’s getting tired? Nice big right from GSP. Nice right hook staggers GSP, he lands a one two again, he’s teeing off now and GSP puts him down. Nick gets to his knees, now feet. Rolls at the bell. GSP is cut and bleeding. Nick is warned for swinging at him after the bell. PMN has it 10-9 GSP.

Round 4 – They do not want GSP standing with him this round. Leg kick GSP. Leg kick GSP. Nick switches stances. Leg kick GSP. Right hook from Nick. GSP shoots, stuffed. GSP shoots, stuffed. Nick stuffs another takedown, again. Clinch, dirty boxing, body shots, knees from Nick. Nice body combo from Nick. Leg kick GSP. Nick goading him with his hands down. Takedown from GSP, inside full guard. Nick gets to his knees and feet. GSP with a body lock, slams him. Nick looks at a kimura but GSP pulls out easily. Nick back to his feet. Nick has a kimura, but doesn’t have the body locked up and GSP pulls out. Nick gets to his feet, rolls for a leg. Time up. PMN has it 10-9 GSP.

Round 5 – Leg kick Nick. Left from Nick. Jab from GSP. He shoots, stuffed. Body lock from Nick, knees to body. GSP gives one back. Nick pushes hi to the cage. They move to the center, still clinched with trading knees. They square up. Nick falls on a head kick after slipping. I did the same thing in a fight in 5th grade.No lie. GSP goes after him as Nick gets to his knees. Nick rolls and gets to his feet with less than 2 minutes to go. Body kick. Clinch, knee from GSP. Body shots from Nick, knee to the body, again. One minute to go. Leg kick GSP. Trade jabs and GSP gets the takedown. Diaz with full guard. They hug it out and Nick raises his GSP’s hands. GSP raises Nick’s hand.  GSP looks the more punished on his face but he often does. PMN has it 10-9 and 50-45 for GSP.

Nick says he thinks he’s going to retire and hopes he made enough money to invest in something.
