UFC officials have confirmed that a featherweight bout between top 10 featherweights Ricardo Lamas and Chan-Sung Jung a.k.a “The Korean Zombie” will take place at UFC 162 on July 6th.

UFC 162 will be headlined by the UFC middleweight title fight between champion Anderson Silva and challenger Chris Weidman.

Lamas (13-2) stopped Eric Koch via second round TKO in his last outing in January. It was the third consecutive win over a top 10 featherweight for Lamas, which put him in a position to challenge Jose Aldo for the title according to UFC President Dana White. However, with the news that Anthony Pettis was dropping down to the featherweight division to fight Aldo, Lamas has been forced to take another fight before potentially getting his title shot.

Chan-Sung Jung (13-3) hasn’t fought since submitting Dustin Poirier in May 2012. Jung has been sidelined with injuries but could earn a title shot with a win over the highly ranked Lamas. He has also won his last three consecutive fights inside the octagon.

The UFC 162 event will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Stay tuned to ProMMAnow.com for more UFC 162 news and coverage.
