(Tampa, FL) – Xtreme Fighting Championships announced their plans at the beginning of 2013 to increase the number of women’s bouts featured in their events and April’s XFC 23 will officially be the first event to feature two WMMA bouts on an AXStv broadcast. Stephanie “The Scrapper” Skinner will challenge “South Valley’s Own” Angelica Chavez in a debut of the Women’s Atomweight division.

Angelica Chavez (4-2) fights out of the Chavez Dojo in Albuquerque, New Mexico alongside XFC Flyweight Joby Sanchez and will be making her XFC debut against Skinner. Chavez strikes fear in any opponent she faces with 4 submissions to start her pro career including three first round victories. Her only losses are from veterans Diana Rael, and Nicdali Rivera-Calonic, who are well known in the Women’s MMA industry. Chavez has will enter the fight with a full camp behind her as she looks to impress the XFC crowd in her premier bout.

Skinner (2-4), training out of Wyoming alongside fellow Atomweight Cassie Robb, is a much better fighter than her record shows. At just 22 years of age, the young fighter has already faced some of the best competition at 105-pounds, but perhaps a bit too early. She now has her fight career on track, winning 2 of her last 3 fights by TKO.

Skinner and Chavez will make up the first ever XFC Atomweight bout when the two collide at XFC 23 Live on AXStv, and will offer a classic grappler vs. striker matchup. Chavez looks to add another submission to her resume, as Skinner attempts to add another TKO while proving how much she has improved as a martial artist.

XFC 23: Louisville Slugfest will also feature a Strawweight Title fight between Stephanie Eggink and Angela Magana as the co-main event of the evening. The event is presented by ICRealTime Security Solutions and ThroatPunch Ind. Apparel and will air live, from the Kentucky National Convention Center in Louisville, on April 19 on AXStv.
