Jose Aldo, UFCYou probably read my piece earlier today about UFC President Dana White regarding UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo refusing to fight Anthony Pettis in August.

Well, it appears that Aldo and camp have agreed to fight Pettis according to White himself in an online chat session:

“The Aldo fight is on,” White said. “It’s done. The fight’s done: Pettis vs. Aldo in August.”

The fight will be for Aldo’s UFC featherweight title. Aldo and camp didn’t believe that Pettis had earned the title shot in which we wrote about earlier today. He had valid reasoning because Ricardo Lamas had earned the shot and White even said so after Lamas beat Erick Koch in January. However, there was probably some jockeying for more money or some sort of negotiations from Aldo’s camp to take the fight with Pettis. It will be the second fighter that dropped directly from the lightweight division to fight Aldo for the title.

Aldo successfully defended his featherweight title at UFC 156 where he defeated former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar via unanimous decision. Pettis knocked out Donald Cerrone at the UFC on FOX 6 event which was his third win in a row.

The fight is set to take place on August 3, but the venue and city has yet to be determined at this time.
