UFC 157 main card results: Urijah Faber submits Ivan Menjivar

Urijah Faber took one step closer to title contention at UFC 157, impressively submitting Ivan Menjivar at 4:34 of the first round.

Urijah Faber came out aggressive looking to close the distance, but it was Ivan Menjivar that took the fight to the mat first with a perfectly executed throw. However, Faber turned the tables quickly, sweeping and ending up on top within seconds. From there, Faber went to work implementing his ground-and-pound game as Menjivar looked for an opening to get his submission game on track.

Faber then went to his elbows, alternating with each arm as he rained down a brutal assault from above. Menjivar had no answer except to get to his feet, but when he did, Faber took his back and sunk in a rear naked choke. The tap came quickly, giving Faber an impressive victory in the rematch between these two seasoned fighters.

The win improves Urijah Faber to 27-6 overall (3-2 UFC), keeping his number 2 ranking within the division intact.
