Sunday night XFC lightweight Scott “Hotsauce” Holtzman joined us on Pro MMA Now Radio to talk about his upcoming main event fight against Jason “The Ronin” Hicks at XFC 22 “Crossing the Line” that takes place February 23rd at The Grady Cole Center in Charlotte North Carolina.

We’ve seen Scott’s rise through the XFC. He’s undefeated in his MMA career and has jumped out to 3 straight wins as a professional under the XFC banner. He faces his toughest opponent to date when he headlines the event against Hicks. The winner of the bout gets a shot at Nick Newell’s XFC lightweight title.

When talking about his training camp Scott tells us he stays close to home.

“I have travelled back and forth some to Charlotte to train with coach Jeff Jimmo that I work with there.  When it comes time to buckle down and start camp I am usually here in Knoxville. I do quite a bit of training around Knoxville. When it comes time to get serious this is where I am”

He goes on to tell us about training leading up to the fight and what if anything he has changed up for Hicks.

“I’m always looking to add training. Not so much volume but just training smarter or finding tweeks here and there to make training more efficient. Luckily one of my boxing coaches decided to open up a gym a little closer to my house. So I’ve been boxing a little more. I continue to improve every fight . Just anxious to show those improvements and do something special Friday night.”

Scott tells us about fighting for the first time out of Tennessee.

No big deal. I’ll just sleep in a hotel the night before is the only difference. I’ll leave around 8 or 9 weigh in day and get there at 12 or 1 and cut the last bit of water weight.

When talking about Hicks he shows nothing but respect.

“Hicks is much better than the other guys I’ve faced. The next fight is always the toughest fight of your career. He’s a little different than the last three guys I’ve fought. He’s tall and rangy”

Scott goes on to talk about who he likes to see fight and some of his plans after the fight. Check out our entire interview with Holtzman and be sure to tune in every Sunday night for a new episode of Pro MMA Now Radio on the ProMMAnow.com Radio Network.
